op, after you drain the oil, put on a fumoto valve. make your life easier from next on.

A 55G plastic drum holds a bit more than 1G per inch of height. I cut one off 12" high, it works great! I do run the MH up on 6" of solid wood planks for safety, elbow room- and to accommodate my belly.
And yes, an oil filter filled with 3qts oil is heavy while trying to screw it on.

I finally got this done today. I bought a 8 gallon plastic tub that was short enough to fit under the engine for about $6. It wasn't a bad job and cost less than $100 for the oil, filter and tub.

I saved the 2.5 gallon oil containers from a few oil changes ago. I use a fumoto valve and drain directly into the 2.5 gallon containers and then haul of to the recycle center.
