I emailed Bluefire asking for the working distance of their bluetooth class they are using, they replied "10 meters". Too bad I can't use it.

I first purchased an inexpensive code reader. It was a converted OBD II code reader and did not work well on a heavy diesel.
I then purchased an OTC 3418 Heavy Diesel code reader with both J1708/J1587 and J1939 cables. It also works with transmission codes.
It reads and clears codes quite well and has paid for itself several times.

I leave it plugged in and on live data page to monitor engine data while driving.

Did you have to buy the J1708 & J1939 adapters, I didn't see where they are listed but says it is compatible.

Mine came with both cables and a case.
Yes, it's been discontinued. I'm not sure what took it's place.
If the used one is priced right I'd go for it.

I had a Scangauge D on my last MH and have transferred it to my new MH with no problems. Besides codes it allows me to monitor additional systems.

Can you get live data from the caps pump? Does it give transmission line pressure, shift solenoid data, control of pressure control and shift solenoids?

I have a ScanGaugeD on my 2000 DSDP 8.3 ISC. I currently have two fault codes 106-0 is new and I can't find what it is. I'm told the 190-10 is engine speed sensor. Any information would be helpful. The ScanGaugeD works great for monitoring systems, fuel flow temps etc. Even MPH and I have it mounted on top of the dash so speed is easier to read than having to look down at the speedo. I really like it, but translating the codes to cummins-speak has become a trial.

How about the inline 6 with insite software? Does anybody know about this. It seems very reasonable and I did notice it on the quickserve site as a service tool instruction # 3400419-2. I really want to read what I think is called the "engine status" data.

Don't know about this unit, but the ScanGaugeD works great for monitoring engine parameters. I think I've figured out the scangauge code. A 190-10 is SCN 190 FMI 10. etc.

Yes, that is the good stuff, now you have to be careful, there is a bunch of stuff from China, I have been looking at used oem but allot of them are not complete, not all the cables and not always the software, but I believe that will be the way I go eventually.

Sorry for open this old thread again but I hope it helps if anyone still looking for a heavy duty truck scan tool... I think Nexas NL102 Plus is worth investing. Vert easy to use and affordable, widely compatible with old vehicle makes and models; Choosing a suitable one for your vehicle is tough, I think this article will be helpful for those who are still struggling to choose a scanner: https://www.obdadvisor.com/heavy-duty-truck-scan-tool/
