Soaking up some diesel fuel
Any suggestions on how to absorb roughly 1 gallon of diesel fuel for disposal? It’s in a bucket I was thinking cat litter, or perhaps a bag of Quick Crete

Take it to your local fire station!
It doesn't belong in the trash

Take it to a waste oil recycler or Walmart in 1 gallon oil bottles.
Call your town for drop-off points.

Kitty litter works well. Once it is soaked up, you can dump it out onto the driveway or something and sweep it flat so it will evaporate then dispose of it

Oil recycler, as twinboat said, or someone with a waste oil heater. *Lots* of automotive shops use them and will be happy to take diesel.

Ditto kitty litter from local hardware store and oil-absorbent sheets from local marine parts store or on-line.

Fire house no. I did the concrete mix best I can do at the rv park for now. Thanks for the suggestions.

Kitty litter not great. Reports are it doesn't really absorb only coats the surface.

It evaporates just fine from the concrete under my leaking truck. You would never know it had been there after a bit in the sun.

Soaking up some diesel fuel
Well it’s done now I did the best I could do which is better than most people typically. Heck I don’t even like throwing a plastic water bottle in the trash when these RV parks don’t provide recycle containers, but that’s another topic. Thanks again.

I realize the OP already moved past this, but many of us find ourselves in the same position when changing out fuel filters. I don't usually have much to get rid of, and it isn't as easy around here to get rid of it responsibly as others have mentioned above. I'm sure it depends on where you live. I keep this stuff around and it soaks it right up.
