Question Thermostat for 8.3L Cummins

First and foremost before i get the harp thrown at me i did try the search bar but nothing directly came up on a thread , with that been said I'm looking for a thermostat for my 8.3L cummins. Searched on google but 2 different thermostat pops up anyone have a part number they went off of and place to purchase? Amazons wait time is 2 weeks for the part "they" show with not much info attaching it directly to the 8.3L. It actually looks exactly like the one for my 5.9 cummins .

Thank you all for any help!! God Bless

The PN for my engine S/N is 3940632, that may or may not be correct for yours. Once you register for quickserv and input your engine S/N, you can look up parts for your exact engine.

As barmcd suggested get your ESN (engine serial number) and go to https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html. Register your vehicle. It's a great source for info on replacement parts. You can also call Cummins Customer Service ( 1-800-343-7357 ) and give them your ESN

This will help you locate where your ESN is: https://www.dieselpartsdirect.com/fi...-serial-number

The Quickserve site is a great resource for info and parts information. But buying direct from Cummins can get pricey. I usually get the part number and do a series of searches and pick one that has a good price, seller has good reviews, it's in stock, and the price includes shipping and taxes.

Well i did what i was suppose to on the Quickserve Site and it still won't let me log in , just tried again this morning and says login/email is not recognized. Can someone let me know what thermostat takes my 8.3L ISC Cummins? Im trying to do my coolant swap but can't get that info off site. TIA

If you call your local Cummins dealer with your engine SN, the parts team can look it up and provide a current part number, if it has been updated since the original build. With that number you can check NAPA or another local supplier. I removed mine and took it in for a match. By going to Cummins with the water pump, they informed me that there had been 4 updates to my original water pump number. The pump didn’t look anything like the original but bolted right up. The new version had a much larger bearing hosing and multiple swirl impellers vs. the old. I have occasional had trouble logging into Quickserve as well. Good luck on your repairs!

Replaced my stat on my ISB 6.7. Number of part came from cummins. This T-stat has been superseeded 3/4 times. Order from Cummins and pay the price.

One phone call to Cummins and you will have the part. Must have ESN to make sure part is correct.
You can get cheaper stats from other suppliers, are they as good?
My ISB was hard to replace, buy Cummins and do it once.
Price paid to Cummins in Canada was $80.00 CAD
Happy travels

Call Freightliner, they can provide the engine serial number if you can’t find it. Then you can supply that to Cummins or use in QuickServ.

An this is for an ISC 350:

Our 1996 Cummins 505ci (aka '8.3qt' in foreign talk) uses two thermostats.
A couple-three years ago, we acquired them from our neighborhood local-owned family-operated parts house.
In stock.

My 8.3 has 2 thermostats - as others have said, take engine ser# to any Cummins or big truck place and have them look it up.
