Hi Wayne. Sorry to hear about your problem. I have a '99 Discovery too, mine has 92,000 mi. on it, and I just changed the lift pump, hoping to save myself the problem of having to change the injection pump too.
I bought a FASS pump from Parley's Diesel Performance. If $1200. covers lift pump and injection pump, it sounds quite resonable. Most places I've seen is over $2000. for the injection pump alone. If you have an injection pump repair shop close by, that you can trust, I would bet they could repair it fairly inexpensively.
