Who all has or had a 600-650hp CM870 ISX without any issues or #6 valve issue?

600HP CM870 no problems. Sold at 110,000 miles.

I wonder if de-rating a 650 hp that seems to be the most affected , decreases the odds of failure. Sure wouldn't be updating one IMHO.

It's the #6 intake valve that fails on the 650hp Cummins CM871. It's called a chordal valve failure. Caused by acid that comes from the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR).

My 650 CM871 never fail but I suspect because I chose to rebuild it and put on the new head prior to taking delivery.

I have only had one problem and that was with the EGR cooler. I have since replaced it.
