3126E noise at shut off

I know this will be a difficult question to explain but when I shut off my motor it makes a screech sound at the end, a high pitched sound.

This is a 2001 with 50,000 miles, runs fine no issues. Over time for general maintenance i have replaced the belts, water pump, belt tensioner. I have checked turbo. lubed the fan bearing annually. It makes no noise when running, just at shut off.

Anyone experience this?

Troubleshoot it by spraying some WD40 on the fan belt just before shutting it down.

If it don't squeak, its a belt or pulley issue.

I have been doing some surfing, It looks like the idea is that the the direct drive fan does not stop as fast as the engine at shut down and there is a chirp of the belt.

Some say its normal, others have replaced the belt and tensioner.

By Belt and tensioner, are about one year old so I may pull the belt off just to check the fan bearing, if that is good the I am going to move on.

Napa sells a premium belt, Green in color. I've had other brands do as you described. Some screamed at idle until replacing with the Green belt only, no other work completed.

mine has done this since i have owned it i replaced the belt with a new cat belt same thing.

I think of it being like a cat making sound before she goes to sleep.
