The 3126 was before diesel emissions so I don't know what a catalytic muffler would be for.

Googling this brings up nothing relevant. Now I'm curious! Standing by for answers.
The catalytic muffler on my 05 Country Coach with an 04 C13 has Donaldson stamped on it with the #M130094 (difficult to find and read). The front 1/2 has the honeycomb catalytic material while the back half is like a regular muffler. It also routes the gases to heat up the cat/muf. I talked to Donaldson and others who all agree that the cat/muf would eventually increase back pressure and need replacing due to soot buildup on the honeycomb material. I was quoted $3500 and up.

Are you going to replace with another catalytic type - or just go with a standard muffler?

Does this look like your muffler? https://www.ebay.com/p/261-6861-Cate...094/1140912906

I have an '05 Cat C13 and my muffler is different. More oval .

Here's and interesting forum thread at: https://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ressure.48059/

"....We experienced similar flat to marginal results on ACERTS [C15 2003-2006] but we always attributed that to additional emission parameters programmed in for the ACERTS and the fact that the ACERT catalytic converter muffler [which must have huge backpressure] being mapped into the ECM........"

That looks like mine if that is the outlet. The inlet has a rim around it. Mine is round.

At least the EBay price is better that you were quoted - if it is the same.

Now I'm wondering if my muffler is a catalytic type too (it looks different from yours) but my coach is a 2005 with ACERT.
I hope its not.

Maybe REV will have the records on your Beaver. Also, look for the manufacturer and # on the muffler. Or maybe it was dependent on your chassis as to the type/size/shape of muffler. You could call Freightliner/Spartan or whatever chassis you have.

I can't see that Beaver would have had an option not to install the cc muffler as this was one of Cat's ways of meeting 2002 emission regs. As you know, the next change was 2007 with the DPF.

I'm reading where some guys think the ecu monitors exhaust temps and removing the cc muffler reduces back pressure and exhaust temps. So the ecu might compensate by changing injector timing to increase temps, but the result can be less power. I was at an authorized Cat dealer today and they didn't see any problem the the cc muffler removal. They said I should get better mileage and power. I might try a straight pipe if it's not too loud. The twin turbos should keep noise down.

Either way, a cc muffler is eventually going to clog up on a diesel.
