Beaver Patriot with C13

Considering a Beaver Patriot 2009 Cat-13 with low miles believe it is b4 regen engine serial number starts with Lee07 wondering if that tells anyone if it is? Owner says no regen but we have been misinformed b4. Also, anything troublesome we should look for? Thx

Easy-- call the Caterpillar Corp hotline with your full engine serial number:

877 777-3126

You can even find out how much HP your engine made on the dyno before leaving the Caterpillar factory.

2009 without DPF would be a rare bird but it is possible. Like Brett suggested, Check with Cat.

Cat won’t require you prove that you are the owner. If you have the engine serial number they will give you the data.

Cat refused to play in the DEF / Regen game so no risk their. The engine actually was probably made a year or 2 earlier but not installed by Beaver until 2009. This was common.

We have a C13 in our ‘06 American Coach. Just over 80k with routine maintenance and no def, or other problematic pollution systems. Pulls like a champ up mountains but fuel mileage is stuck around 6 no matter how I baby it.

Check with a guy on here that goes by the name of Country B. He’s a mech that told me to stay away from the “Lee” cats. Google the difference between a “Lee” and a “kcb”

Just did some look. Apparently the”Lee” engines are the Regen engines that have the issues and are expensive to repair. The “kcb” engines are the Iva engines without regen. I would do some more research before jumping on it. From what I have been able to find out I wouldn’t go near a regen unit and I do all my own maintenance but it’s the cost of parts that would keep me away.

Thanks to all...CAT was great!
The engine issue not so much, it is Regen that isn't the worst thing, however with 4 open "letters" that were never resolved.
Two of the issues are no big deal, BUT the other two...one is involving the regen and the other a valve issue. All would have been resolved under warranty, but that has long since expired. Sent a email to the owner informing them to check into resolution with CAT but, not sure there is a way forward. Dang we really liked it, the search goes on!
