The Cat C7 engine doesn't need oil/filter changes any more frequently than a Cummins.

C7 Engine

I agree with others regarding oil and filter changes. Fan hub bearings are also a known problem. Mine went out at 30000 miles, replaced under warranty. Diesels are expensive to maintain....make sure you have a budget for that. I have 107000 miles now, its in shop for coolant change and valve adjustment.

My 2 cents

I don't have a lot of experience bought a 2006 with a C 7 350 hp in December with 36000 miles changed oil, oil and fuel filters now have 42250 with 800 more before we get home. It seams my mileage is getting better than my first couple trips. I try to set the cruise at 64 and leave it there. I have been happy with the power. I pass some and a lot pass me. Need to find a good company to do all of my samples oil, water and trans before the next change. My buddy has a few 18 wheelers only likes Cummings was sad I bought a MH with a Cat.
