C13 Cat 525 HP motor
Considering a coach with c13, 525hp motor. Everything I have previously heard about motor is oil consumption issues and slightly lower mpg than Cummings. Looking for comments about motor. Thanks

C13
I had one. Great engine. No problems. Don’t recall any oil usage problems. Can’t compare with Cummings. Ran 70mph most of the time with a little over 6mpg. Just my two cents. Good luck
Safe travels

The C13 (2004 - 2006) is a great engine. Lots of power. Fuel economy is not as good as the Cummins engines of similar size (it is said). Maybe a 1/2 or 1 mpg lower. But the C13 is very reliable, no oil consumption issues that I've ever heard of or personally seen.
The 2004-2006 CAT C13 ACERT engine (engine serial number starts with "KCB") is the good engine. It is twin-turbocharged and uses IVA (Intake Valve Actuator) - for emissions compliance. NO EGR on this engine (which is a big problem for diesels).
The 2007-2010 C13 ACERT (called "Regen engine", which starts with serial number "LEE") must be avoided at all costs. This engine has the emissions junk that is expensive to fix and problematic).
Note that we are talking about "engine years" not Coach year. A 2006 or 07 model year Coach can have a 2005 year engine. So you have to check the engine tag if your looking at a 2007 year Coach to make sure you don't get the "Cat regen" engine.

We've owned ours for just under two years and she's never used oil.
Mileage is six mpg. Up, down - it's six. But man, that power is addictive.

Agree with the above post, 67,000+ miles. No oil consumption and average 6 mpg on a 42,000 lb coach

For comparison: My 52,000# CC with ISX 650 is getting 7.7 mpg over 64,000 miles. But, due to Cummins misdesign it's been rebuilt 3 times with an out of my pocket $53,000 cost.

You may also want to look at the C12. Great reliability and power.... and mine gets 8.2 MPG.

My dad has a 2005 Country Coach Magna with a C13. Great engine. Loads of power and decent fuel mileage around 6.5 towing a Tahoe. We did have the turbo exhaust precooler go out. We lost 9 gallons of coolant. Thankfully it wasn't a terrible fix. $400 part and it was difficult to install, but we did it. Other than that it has been great.

2004 kcb cat c13
Great motor although the fuel mileage is a bit lower than others. I believe it had an ECM update that changed the fueling and lowered the mileage. Ton of power, pulls mountains without any problems and has been an incredible engine.
