C7 turbo to muffler exhaust pipe

I don't remember where I found this and searching this forum I couldn't find anything. I read about some else having this issue (forget where) and thought I should check mine closer and this is what I found. As you can see the heat wrap hides the rust and the holes/thin spots are in the most difficult spot to see. If you start to pull the heat wrap away and it rains rust I recommend removing it all and inspecting much closer.

Go to the provided link and search you engine serial number and part name to find the part number and use that to search online.

Well cptdzl
The fiberglass wrap on my C-7 ('04 Itasca Horizon 36GD, C-7 330HP)exhaust pipe started to fail a while ago. So, I looked up the parts on "Access Freightliner" and, just about had a heart attack on the replacement cost. So, I ventured onto ebay and Amazon to see if I could find fiberglass exhaust wrap and, low and behold, I found tons of it. So, since my pipe was in great shape, I'd just re-wrap it. I paid around $40 or so bucks for about 30-40' of it (about 3" wide) and, it did the trick perfectly. And, there was even a member on here that wanted the rest of my role of wrap. So, he got a good deal and, both of us made out.

Now, since you need a pipe, you can do a couple of things. You can venture into a muffler shop and see what they have to offer in terms of making you a part or, go to a truck muffler place an they may have what you need or, may be able to make you one. Or, if you're one of those that MUST have original parts, as stated, you can call your local Freightliner dealer and, give him the last 6 of your VIN and, he'll find the exact pipe and, when you're sitting down, he'll tell you the price and when he can get it.

1doodadd,
I goofed around on that site and, for the most part, yes, you can get ENGINE parts and things like that. But, EXHAUST is part of the chassis maker operation. I didn't see any pipe to speak of. I did see a muffler or two but, not what the OP is looking for. As stated above, I think he's better off going to an independent truck muffler shop or, as a last resort, giving Freightliner a call with his last 6 of his VIN.

Same thing happened to me on a 2005 Expedition , however by the time I caught it the heat from the exhaust leak fried my inverter / charger.
The cost of the pipe was nothing compared to that.

I ordered a pipe from Freightliner , They told me everything from the turbo including the muffler was a chassis part , everything after the muffler was a coach part.

cptdzl,
Wow, what a horrible couple of bends. They most likely won't affect engine output but, those boys need to learn how to use a good tubing bender. Hope that part works for you. Good luck.

freightliner must of changed vendors for that chassis part, it installed just fine the hard part was wrapping the header insulation. We're all set for 1500 mile road test.
