Cat 3126E power loss after fuel filter change

I Changed the filter Nov. 9th and went on a 3 day trip Nov 10th. While driving to our destination the engine would shake/raddle when I try to accelerate to gain speed, I would either have to back off pedal or floor the pedal to get engine to smooth out. Only flooring it would get it to gain a little more speed, but it seriously lacked power.
I have the cat 3126E with 1 fuel filter, which is a water/fuel separator filter mounted in the of motorhome near radiator. The last eight of the vin is 3CM04844 and the serial number is HEP20882. I also, pushed the reset button for the air filter.
Any Idea as to what is wrong?

Cat 3126E power loss after fuel filter change

So it ran perfectly fine until you changed the filter, I assume.

Did you pre fill the new filter with fuel before installing or how did you prime the system after?

Did the old filter look clean when you removed it?

Have you checked for fuel leaks, if fuel is leaking out air can be sucked in which is not good. And confirm new filter is tight.

When was the last time you changed the air filter?

Check for leak at fuel filter. Did you remove old gasket before installing new one ?

You reset the air filter indicator, not the air filter. That does nothing for the filter.

If the indicator is going to the red, you need to replace the filter.

Yes, the engine was running great before I changed the filter.
The filter was last changed last year in November. I prefilled the filter with fuel. I have no Primer handle. I have the 3126E HEP20882 Cat, that has only (1) fuel/water separator filter.
I do not see or smell any fuel leaks.

Feel may not leak out but if air is drawn in, you get what's happening .

+2 what twinboat said. Since it sated after changing the filter. It would be an air leak. It might be worth changing the filter again.

On my 6.7 Ford diesel I had somewhat the same thing happen. Little power. It was an air leak but no fuel leakage. It ended up that I hadn't quite tightened the cannister to the stop (a very quiet 'click' noise). Snugged it to the stop and my power returned.

If you are not using a recommended CAt filter but that to0 may be a problem if it's low end (but not necessarily cheaper) generic

Did the old filter gasket come out with the old filter ? May have two gaskets on filter now ,allowing air in ,but will not leak fuel . Remove filter and check if two gaskets are on top . Gaskets stick sometimes to housing .

Did you forget the small gasket that goes on the thread stub on the fuel filter housing? Sounds like it's sucking air.

I don’t think that would suck air but it would allow some unfiltered fuel to bypass the filter

Purchased new filter today and install. will drive tomorrow and see how it does. Called Freightliner gave them the vin # and they said they installed a Racor 32FRT03 (Alliance ABPN122FRT03). Cat didn't have a fuel filter that cross-referenced to the filter Freightliner installed. I ended up purchasing a wix33783 and purchased a bowl with it. Installed it today and will test drive tomorrow.
My engine is a cat 3126E serial # HEP20882, last last 6 of vin is M04844.

The installed filter should be overflowing with fuel when you loosen it, if not there’s probably air getting in somewhere

I had the filters changed by a service garage and after driving about 100 miles it lost power and ran rough. Found out it was a bad injector. They said it may have gotten dirt in the injector when the filter was changed. OP problem sounds like a bad injector. Easy to tell if hooked up to a computer. I had the same Cat engine
