How do you know separator has a air pocket? If it has a clear bowl on bottom,if it had air it would be on top. If the bowl has air there is no fuel in it. You can prefill filters thru the small outside holes.

Thumbs up Thi is Bill68

I love the 3208 .Worked on a lot of them. In the center towords the the front there is a solinoid on top of the fuel pump .Looks like a mini v8 . Cat has had problems with them. pull the solinoid off pull up the foot and the engine should start.

Never had a Cat 3208 but have had a Westerbeke W100, a Perkins 6-354 240hp & still have a 1996 Cummins 315hp 5.9L. All of them marine applications. Only the Westerbeke was a self bleeder.

Bleeding a diesel is simple enough. If bill68's suggestion does not give a VROOM after a few engine rolls try bleeding by loosening the injector line feeds at the injectors, roll the engine till fuel squirts solid & retighten as engine rolls.

As each cylinder gets fuel & the line is tightened it should kick & run smooth when all are tightened down.

Anything past the basic trouble shooting that you have done & as suggested by bill 68 starts to look like more than the skills of a shade tree mechanic.
