Check engine light and fault code
I started my Cat C7 engine today to take a road trip and got a check engine light. On my Scan Guage I got these codes.
# - - ID - FM -CNT
< 1 - 70 - 6 -- -0>
Any one know what this means? I shut everything down right then.
Thanks for any help.
Bud

I'm kind of new to all of this and don't know how to use the cruise control to check the codes.

Thanks Art, so what is the solution for this? Will it hurt to drive for repair?

I would reset the trouble codes and see it they come back some times you get
codes that just show up once.
The code shows this is a one time thing so far.

Heater should shut off a couple of minutes after you start the engine so no problem
in driving it.
As I said clear the codes and see if it comes back. Do you know how to clear them?

Art , Thanks, I can clear them. I 'll clear them and see what happens. I didn't start it all winter and was going to take it out for a good run to get ready for spring. Maybe it was because it hasn't been started for a while.

Bud,
If you are up to it I would have a look at the ground cable from the engine to the
frame to the chassis battery. Make sure they have clean connections and are tight, the reason is a lot of faults codes and no starts can be traced to bad grounds.
That is one thing the Cat ECM does not like and will drive you nuts until fixed.
