Just purchased my first d p 2004 winn vectra 7.2 l cat 330 hp. i keep reading about using DEF in diesel engines but can find nothing in manual or a tank on rig . does anybody know if needed . thanks

DEF wasn't used until a few years later than 2004.

Count your lucky stars.

Yep, DEF engines came with the 2010 and later builds. Cat engines never got that far as they pulled out of the OTR market after 2007.

Respectfully - CAT made engines in 2008 and 2009 as well - called CAT ACERT "regen" engines. Truly the final downfall of CAT otr engines - adding on an after treatment Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
