Fuel Additives?

I have a 2003 cat 330 pushing a 36' Journey. 100,000 miles on it. I bought this year so have no idea how previous owner did.
I am thinking to put an additive with injector cleaner fuel stabilizer. In at least the next four fills.
Do they work? Worth the money? What one do you use and if there is a reason for that one.

Thanks for all helpful replays

We had a Cat C7 in our 07 Dynamax. In 5 years and 30,000 miles the engine performed perfectly. According to a local Cat mechanic, the most important items to keep on top of are regular fuel filter changes using Cat parts and the correct micron level. Most aftermarket filters don't filter to that level. Also important, regular oil changes using Cat recommended oil and filter. These engines have complicated injection systems and maintenance is key to longevity.
I never used any additives because my Cat manual didn't recommend them.
I don't know if your RV has the C7 but would imagine there are similarities.

Was thinking of trying some additives as well but saw a another post where someone said Caterpillar strongly discourages additives.

Although given these fantastic engines were designed for high sulfur Diesel we may be having less lubricity in our fuel. Or is that falling victim to the additive hype?

My local Cat dealer has said positive things about putting PowerService Diesel Kleen in, which I've used in every other diesel I've had at least from time to time, and it's always seemed to help. I don't put it in every change but putting one of the smaller bottles in when you fill up your fuel tank for the first time isn't a bad idea.

As already stated, though, the big thing is keeping things clean. I only run genuine Cat filters. Assuming yours is the same as my 3126B filter wise, Cat makes an Ultra High Efficiency fuel filter that I try to use when I can get them. It's part number 306-9199. Keep all the filters and oil clean and changed regularly. I use Cat brand oil too, easy to just show up at the dealer and buy it all there.

The only additive you might want is an algicide if you suspect agley buildup in the tank. To determine first fuel filter change open the filter and if black expose the filter material to the sun and if algae it will turn brown.

I use Howes fuel conditioner at most fills. I also use Cat filters and change regularly..

Keep in mind your era Cat was not designed to run on ultra low (no) sulphur diesel fuel. Added lubericity can't hurt a thing.
I prefer PowerService Diesel Kleen or Howes in our Cummins at each feeding.
