Okay, so I changed the single fuel filter on my Cat 3126E that doesn't have a manual priming pump. I filled the fuel filter with fresh clean diesel to the top of the filter fuel, spun it onto housing, and climb into the driver's chair switched on the ignition key, proceeded to crank the engine, only to have it come to life for 30 seconds then die!!
After multiple attempts to start the engine over the past week..NADA!
Google many days looking for advice on how to get my CAT to run. Finally I run across a YouTube video called What to do when you out run out of diesel by Adept Ape. He went on to say that if you have a 3126e or C7/C9....good luck trying to bleed out the air, unless you own a MH, then you can disconnect the fuel return line located on the back of the block, crank the engine until fuel comes out re-attach the return line and start the engine up.
I decided that I didn't want diesel fumes in my bedroom, so I used the Mityvac I had and pulled vacuum until I saw clear diesel, attached the return, cranked the engine over and the engine came alive!!
I'll attach some pics so you can understand what I did.
Hope this helps !!
