IAPCV removal from HEUI pump
I'm trying to fix a recurring leak from the high pressure oil line fitting on the bottom of the HEUI pump and need to remove the IAPCV for access.
I removed the set screw , but the valve won't budge. Anyone had theirs out ?
Top picture ; center is set screw I removed ; IAPCV has the blue electrical connector.
Lower picture, the fitting I need to reseal, I tightened the left hand side nut 3 times , leak stops for about 6hrs of engine run time. This is not a pipe thread fitting. Why I don't know.

You'll have to remove the coil-- which can be hard to do because of dirt and rust. Then you unscrew the solenoid portion.

Thanks Cat, but is the tinerman nut the item securing the coil ?
Top center just the edge visible in picture 2.
Every picture I've seen of the part only showed it as the assembly, never 2 pieces or I'm sure I would have figured it out.

Yes the tin nut retains the coil. You may have to use pliers to twist the coil back and forth to loosen it. Then it slips off. The coil is not threaded on.

Well , all I can say is that , this was a .... of a place to bury a $0.22 " O " ring. 3 hours of getting things loose and clean up, modifying wrenches, and 1/2 hour to put things back together.
I now carry a set of O rings and all modified wrenches , in case I have to do this again.

But three 1/2 hours with the blood rushing to my head , didn't do me any good . Or at least that's what my DW says.

How did you gain access to the HEUI pump, from the top? We are on the road and I have picked up an oil leak that is coming down around the Air Compressor and is making for one dirty car by the end of a days travel. I think the HEUI pump is located above the compressor. I hope it does not get worse as we want to stay on the road and I don't want to get into something like that during are travels. "blood rushing to your head" makes it sound like you came in from the top. Other then the air filter did you have to dismantle any thing further if you accessed from the top? Mine is a 2003 Dutch Star 3803 w/3126B Cat.

Jeff, yes the HEUI, pump is directly above the compressor.
Edge of compressor cly head , shows in pictures.
I don't have a bedroom slide so my access , although awkward, was not really restricted, and considering I'm 6'2" and 280lbs, if I can get in there most people can.
I was able to slow the leak on 2 occasions , by accessing with a modified 3/4" open end wrench ( had to grind away 75% of the wrench shaft ) could only tighten a few degrees, but the leak was considerably less for about 8 hrs of engine run time .
I'll post pictures of the three wrenches I modified.
O rings are specific for this type of fitting, my supplier showed me the box with a picture of the fitting on it, when I questioned the size. Torn O ring in the pictures was too big.
Along with the one O ring shown the fittings where the tube mount have O rings also , I bought 2 complete sets , 6 O rings in all $ 1.07 with taxes.
Tube carries 800 psi of oil pressure so it has to be sealed properly.

Took some pictures and I'll describe things after I get them posted.
Top picture, modified wrenches and O rings.
Combination wrench , is 13/16" to fit oil line , all fittings must be double wrenched ( hold one portion while loosening the other.) When removing the fitting from the back of the pump , count the number of turns it takes to get it out. Eliminates guess work when installing.
Middle , wrench in use.
Lower, tube routing , HEUI pump, to side of head , just out of frame to right.
The large tube with the square elbow , is the oil return , ( un-used oil , from the HEUI to the pan ) I had to loosen the fitting from the back of the pump to get the clearance , I needed to remove the electromagnet, portion of the IAPCV from the pump for room to work. The portion of the valve , that remained after I removed the electromagnet, was seized in the pump so I worked around it.

I have a set of those wrenches I had to make for same problem,except I still had soft hose,replaced with steel now.I did it from below and have scars on head to show it.

I may have been able to access from the underside of the coach , if I'd taken the muffler off, way too tight otherwise. 
Plus trying to remove a 14 year old muffler may have set up another set of problems.$$$$$

Did have to remove muffler,but seemed like everytime I stuck my head in something stuck me.

Looking at mine, I don't see a way to get at it with out removing the muffler. If it does not get worse it will have to keep until we get home in October.
