I delvac 15-40 now there will be a ton of people that will tell you cat recommends 10-30. I have a road truck that has a c13 in it and we run the same oil in it as well. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to keep it changed and keep CLEAN oil and A good air filter in it.

I just went to Speedco. 15w40 oil, a filter, a fuel filter, and some antifreeze. $213. Very time and cost efficient.

Delo 15W40, CAT filter, every 5K. I do it all myself so it runs me about $80 everytime and O'Reilly Auto Parts will take the used oil for free. So will my garbage co. at curb pickup but only 2 gls at a time. I do this often because the oil needs to be clean for the continued health of the HEUI pump on the C7.

Now, another quandary. The owners manual says to use 10W30 for up to 104 deg. ambient temperature. To me the "ambient" temperature is what is in the engine compartment which could be higher even if the outside temp is not. I could get by with 10W30 from October to May but in the summer we are likely to hit outside temps in excess of 100 deg quite often. So, am I supposed to change viscosity during changes in the season? Seems to me one should stick with one grade of oil.

I too only used Rotella 15w40 in our C7 for six years. However, I highly recommend that if you don't change oil/filter annually, that you at least take a sample and have it analyzed. This will tell you how your engine is doing and if you may have a problem lurking for future development.

We now have a Cummins, and in addition to the annualy oil/filter change, I'll still send off a sample to have it looked at.

Hope this helps

Ron
