Proper Way to Prime

I recently added a secondary fuel filter and priming pump to my CAT powered MH. I got a little different advice on priming from the mechanic than I have seen on this forum. He advised that I back out the bleeding screw a little to help vent air from the lines while pumping to prime. I haven’t seen that on this forum just “pump until it gets difficult”. Comments?

I can see no reason to do this. Just pump until it gets hard to pump and start it up. Why add an unnecessary step. Been doing it this way for several years now with no problems.
