Radiator fan speed

Have a C-7 on a FCC and it seems that the radiator fan is always "full On". But not sure what speed is Full On? The way I understand the system to work is that the ECM sends the signal to how fast the fan should spin depending on temp. A/C "on" , RPMs. Any more on this ? RFS

Are you sure your engine HAS a variable speed fan. They are not very common.

The fan on my C-7 is belt driven and the only variation is engine RPMs

RFS,

If you are unsure whether you have a variable speed fan it is easy to check. Grab ahold of a fan blade (engine off obviously) and see if you can turn the fan. If you can't it is most likely NOT a variable speed fan. If you have a rear radiator it is most likely NOT a variable speed fan. If you have a side radiator it is more likely it "could be" variable.

RFS has a 2005 Mandalay. One speed fan like the rest of us!

O to have a fan clutch.

Looking at some of the pictures on the previous threads looks like they are all Diesel which I know nothing about.
The M.H. that I have is a gas driven one.
The fan in front of the engine has a fan clutch that come on only when the engine is getting hot and if I am going up a hill in the summer months the fan will increase its speed as the engine get hotter it seem to increase its speed to keep the coolant at a constant temperature.
Which I think is great.
Just a thought.

Side mounted radiator

If you have a side mounted radiator if it is like mine it is hydraulic driven from the Power steering/hydraulic pump. It only runs when the need arises, Half speed to start with, full speed if the temp gets too high and then no speed until it needs more cooling and it all starts over.
