What should I do?

I am in serious discussions for a 2005 coach with a C-9 side radiator 400 hp motorhome. The coach itself is in good shape. My concerns are this: very few service records, it has been 1.5-2 years since engine and generator service. The transmission and radiator have NEVER been serviced, how big of a concern is this? What should I do?

Thanks

Take oil samples and have the run at you local Cat dealer if your that interested in the coach. You will have to go to the dealer and purchase the kit first which will contain the suction hose and bottle for the sample. My Cat dealer sells everything needed for proper sampling and testing. Engine MUST be at operating temp for best sample results

If the price reflects the lack of service I'd have it inspected by a reputable tech. If it checks out ok, and you reach an agreeable price that allows for a full service (budget $3k) I'd say go for it. Yes, oil and coolant samples are mandatory. So is checking the tire date codes. Anything close to 7-10 years old there's another $3k.

Cat C9 and a side radiator is a rock solid performer, but keep in mind appropriate pricing for lack of service records. My thinking would be 20% under book, then deduct any service requirement$. That was the formula we used when purchasing our low mileage under serviced rig, and it worked out well.
Just my .02
Good Luck
