How much Transyn fluid do I need to change the oil in the trans if I just remove the plug?

Allison Refill

That sounds like way to much. I am just going to change the oil that comes out when I pull the drain plug in the oil pan.

when I changed my fluid and filter i used just shy of 3 gallons. There is a lot of fluid in those transmissions.

We used 10+ quarts on a quickie drain/fill. You can crawl under RV and find the Allison nameplate with lots of data. Ask Allison to explain. Maybe you have a deep pan....maybe not.

Hi LEE:

IMO, you will get "about" 10-12 quarts out of a simple drain of your 2000 series Allison. Buy 3 gallons, but carefully measure how much comes out so you won't overfill. Be sure to check the level when the tranny is warmed up. Don't forget to re-use the magnet from the old filter, when you replace it.
