Allisonman,

I have a new to me 2015 ISX15 paired to Allison 4000 MH with 14000 miles, Build date on the engine is 11/14. I had a friend tell me that the filters should of been changed at 5000 miles or 200 hours is that true? or does this vintage come with the long filters and no changing is required for 75000 miles.

Thanks in advance.

No, it is NOT true now. A few years ago it was but then they came out with new filters and removed that requirement. On my ISX650 and 4000MH they weren't changed till after I bought it used at about 48,000 miles, which was too long even with the new filters. The old filters were even stamped with a note that they were the original filters.

Do a search on "st1099s.pdf". That is the info direct from Allison that gives the change info although there may be a newer one.

I have a 2007 American Tradition 43' with a 400 Cummins, MH3000 Allison, and about 65,000 miles. I bought the coach about a year ago, and here's my problem: extremely slow takeoff because the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd too soon, (before the turbo has a chance to come on) and from 2nd to 3rd too soon as well. Once the coach is in 3rd, it stays there long enough for the turbo to kick in and from there on, it works fine. I think there's and easy way to reprogram the transmission, but any advice would be nice to have.

It's up to Revision U now. Published this summer.
Or you can also use the fluid and filter calculator on the Allison website.

I would echo what others have said - replace your engine speed sensor and the transmission output sensor. It sounds to me like you have a transmission shifting logic issue. Replacing those two items are relatively inexpensive. If you are still having problems, take it to an Allison Service Center.

Not sure which transmission shifter/display you have - with the key in the ON position, can you press the up and down arrow and see any codes being displayed? When I did mine it displayed a code that was deciphered earlier in this thread as the Engine Speed Sensor needing to be replaced - they are like $90-100 each so before you just replace them, check to see if there is any codes being displayed and post back.

In post 88 I stated what I just paid for a speed sensor a couple weeks ago. Cost was $119 incl tax.

I posted earlier in the thread that I paid $90 for the sensor. So maybe I should repost that they could pay $90-119.
