Allison Trans leak

Hello I am new to the forum. I bought my DP about a month ago. It has the allison trans. I cleaned up under the motor and trans the other day due to some fluid residue. well i notice the trans had some fluid coming from a bolt on the passenger side of the trans (pic included). I tried to tighten it but it dint tighten up. It this bolt there to tell me the trans is over filled or should it be tight. thank for any info.

Hard to tell from the picture BUT...I think you are looking at the hole for the dipstick tube. Look on the other side of the trans and see if that is where yours is located. The case comes with one on each side so the builders have options for routing the tube. There is a special gasket in there that does leak on occasion. Easy to replace, get one at your Allison dealer. I have one in the toolbox but the number was on the plastic bag has long since been unreadable.

Cheap and easy fix. Don't ignore it though because if it is loose and you have a real heavy downhill application of exhaust/jake brake it could blow out...very messy
