Allison transmission leaking

Climbing hill 20 miles east of Benson Az, on the road about 4 hours. transmission had a hard time shifting. Another mile down the road and smoke came out from under motor home. Pulled over and there was a small puddle of fluid from transmission on the ground. Couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Drove another 5 miles to rest area and stopped. Let it sit for 45 minutes and no leak on the ground. Unhooked toad. Going to try and get to Tucson. Any ideas on what could be going on?
