Allison won't shift into gear
2006 Winnebago Journey 36G, Cummins 300. Allison transmission wont shift into any gear. Engine starts. Engine monitor says "No Brakes" but brakes are fine. Any ideas what to check? Cant move it so cant take for service.

The trans may want to see your foot on the brake , and to do that the brake lights have to be working .
You could have a blown brake light fuse or problems with the brake light switches .
Is your coach on a Freightliner chassis?

Is the idle low like normal ? They won't shift, if idle is high.
Does sound like a foot on brake signal is missing.

Just in case you're reading my last post I'll add this , if your bake lights are working and you require more info on what sets the no brake warning on your engine ( dash ) monitor ( my vintage coach doesn't have one ) call Freightliner's free help line with your serial number .

Brake lights work. Air pressure is 120#. Brakes engage with pedal, parking brake engages, disengages. Monitor says "Neutral", "No Brakes" but cannot engage any gear, stays in Neutral. I called Freightliner hotline. They said the monitor was by Winnebago and they had never heard of the issue. I had just rebuilt all leveling jacks. Cycled jacks several times and all retract with no down lights.
This a previously owned coach and it never would shift into D from Neutral since I acquired it. It would engage first gear when D3 was selected and upshift OK after that.

" D3 ???"
Do you have a push button shift pad , or a shift lever ??
What series of Allison trans is in your coach ? 2500 ?

It is an Ahrens touch pad control panel. Allison 2500MH trans.
Before it stopped shifting into any gear if D was selected it did not shift into a forward gear. If I then manually selected 1, 2 or 3rd it would go into 1st gear. I could then select any forward gear and it would upshift normally into that gear.

My RV has a safety built in that prevents me from putting the RV in gear if all the jacks are not fully in the "up" position.

I don't know if the jack position switches inhibits gear selection or not. The jacks all retract fully and the jack down lights go out. I think I may disconnect the jack switch connectors and see if that makes a difference.

With all your previous touchpad and shifting problems my guess is the touchpad is shot.
Maybe try disconnecting chassis battery to see if that might do something.

I called Freightliner and Allison, they were of little help. Freightliner told me to put the ignition switch in the #2 position and disconnect the chassis battery. This would make the TCM do a hard reboot. It didn't help. I did find an Ahrens SBW Trouble shooting guide that I will try.

if i remaber right there is a 12v motor servo on the side of your trans and its on top of your Transmission Range Sensor
they go bad and is most likely whats going on
the allison 2500 is still the 2000 and 1000
if you have to move the RV you can take this off and shift the trans your self to drive . PS dont run over your self when doing so as you have to be under the RV it put it in gear
but the TCM wants to see it in gear so i am not 100% sure how well this would work as the Transmission Range Sensor would have to be moved as well . so if this servo comes off of it then its a good place to start

Make sure your cruise control is shut off. If you start up the motor, and activate the cruise control with the switch in the on position, the engine goes to high idle. At least mine does.
