Cats eye

2000 Dutch star, Allison Transmission, Spartan Chasis, driving down the road a cats eye appears in my shifter window, also a red gear with an exclamation mark on the dash. I pull over, stop put the park brake on, turn off the vehicle, re start and it will not go into gear. I got towed to a mechanic where they have tested the TCM, checked for shorts between the shifter and the TCM, put a new shift controller in and the problem is still there! The code will not clear! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

I have a 2001 model Allison so I’d like to learn more about this “just in case “.

Could we get a picture of the cat’s-eye I haven’t seen that before.

If the code will not clear does that mean it is a legitimate problem? Maybe something like a short in the wiring?

Cats eye

The shifter had to be replaced. After the new shifter was put in the code was still there. The tech spent hours trying to figure out why, he then stepped on the accelerator with the motor running and the code cleared. It’s all good now!

There is a company in Texas, https://www.transmissioninstruments.com/ to keep in mind if someone needs to get their Transmission ECM / TCM repaired. That is the "shifter" mentioned.
