I have the Allison HD4000MH_P transmission, S/N 6610152365.
According the Allison "My Transmission" site, I have the 4" sump. I want to do my first oil change on this new (to me) coach.
My Beaver Owner's manual says the filter used is a Gold Series p/n 29540494 (for both filters). And according to the Allison pdf "Fluid and Filter Change Recommendations" document (attached), the High Capacity Filter Kit p/n is 29545779.
However the 29545779 is now replaced with 29545780. See page 2 of attachment if I understand what I'm reading.
Yet, somehow I ordered a Allison 29548988 / 29558118 according to my Amazon order receipt. I know I searched Amazon using the correct part number. Reading more about this filter kit number, it looks like this is the correct number --- so did the 29545780 get updated to 29558118?
I'm confused. See the copy from the Allison Service Tips document. Will those filters work or should I start shopping for another filter kit?

After more research on this, it looks like the 29558118 is the "new" part number for the High Efficiency filter kit for the 3000/4000 series with 4" sump.

Yep, shallow sump is about 2" deep and deep sump is about 4".
Shallow sump takes approx 4" long filters and deep sump are approx 6" long.

Do you just remove the 5 bolts around each filter and change them out?
Found this info in Mikes attachment.
Fluid Loss with filter change only:
3000 and 4000 Product Families Transmissions
Main Filter = 2 quarts (1.9 liters)
Lube Filter = 8 quarts (7.6 liters)

Yes, it's that easy.
I was doing a complete oil change and filters, so I drained the transmission first. But I believe I read somewhere that only about a quart of oil will come out when the filters are changed on a full (of oil) transmission. I can't find this info now - so you would be smart to confirm this yourself before pulling filters.

Okay, I found the info - it's in the "Sticky" thread at the top about changing the filters. It's mentioned in the 3rd or 4th post about only losing a quart of oil when just dropping the filter.

This seems to be a variable. My 4000 is ‘02-‘03 production. I lose about 2 gallons changing both filters. At some point, later production reports losing substantially less.

I did order the wrong filters. It seemed reasonable that a 4" sump would take a 4" filter.
Anyone need a set of 4" Allison filters? Should fit both 3000 and 4000 shallow sump.
