digital display

This is my first push-button selector trans, its a 3000 and no matter what gear I am in, the digital display shows 6th gear, has any one had this problem, ?? 30,000 miles . It would be nice to look down and see what gear your in. Thanks

My Allison 3000 MH has a 2 digit display, the first digit shows the gear called for and the second digit shows the actual gear being used.

Your display is only "gear selected". In the 90s Allison had a display with 2 windows which displayed selected and attained. At some point they changed to the single window. After a few years of that nonsense they switched back to the 2 window display. Monaco put the Aladdin display in at some point which displayed the gear attained. The simplest way for you to get the info would be to get one of the Silverleaf add on displays.

As stated above, the single display shows the gear the transmission is heading for and not the actual gear you are in. You may also notice that when the exhaust brake is activated, the display with drop to either a 2 or 4 (depending how it is programmed), which means it is now heading for the lower gear. All this is perfectly normal and not a problem. The Silverleaf VMSpc is a great tool if you want additional engine/tranny info.
