Econ Button No Light

05 Monaco Knight 38PDQ, Roadmaster chassis.

When I press the Econ button, nothing lights up and I don't notice any difference in shifting.

Is there a fuse to check or something?

It is not uncommon for it to have the button but not be calibrated for use. Only way to know is to check the TCM calibration and see if the option is available to be turned on.

Is TCM transmission control management? Is access through the diagnostic port?

TCM transmission control module. Yes if you have the Allison DOC software. Not sure if you can access it with a generic code reader

Could just be the light, could not be working.

EASY to verify.

Accelerate at WOT from 0 to around 45-50 with economy not pushed. Record max RPM in each gear.

Engage economy mode and do the same.

If max RPM is the same in power and economy mode, it is not programmed properly (never seen that on an RV, but certainly could happen).

If max RPM in each gear is lower in economy mode, it is working.

John could tell you about the light and may be of assistance if it is not programmed for economy mode: https://www.transmissioninstruments.com/

What I notice when in ECO mode is that the tranny shifts later, like it will try to get farther up an incline before it down shifts. It's great for flat landing with little inclines but not so much in the hills. I get no indication I am in ECO mode visually.
