Fluid capacity
I had to change the internal wire harness on MH, when I filled with oil, I put in 10 quarts, drove till warmed up good, back in garage where good and level where left idling while I checked fluid and had to add another quart to bring up to full hot. Drove it again today and it is just below cold mark warm. I have put 12 quarts all together. When I drained it it sat with pan off for a week dripping into catch pan. Going to measure oil that came out. Didnt think they took that much on complete change with both filters. Still a quart low by dip stick and that would make 13 quarts. Is that to much, have seen where people says 10.5 quarts to fill after change.

We are whistling in the wind until we know the make and model transmission.

Allison says 17 qts to full for shallow pan, 19qts. for deep pan.
reference: Allison transmission ratings and specifications.

Thanks, that’s what I was looking for. I put in 3 gal and after warmed up good, still a quart low. Just wanting to make sure. Guess the dip stick is good.

I've changed mine about five times now. Usually add about 11 quarts which is about right with just a drain and new spin on filter.
About two quart remain in the converter so you have to drain it again after about 20 miles to get the old stuff out of the converter.
So 13 quarts seems about right after a long drain period.

Going to make a 300 mile trip and change it again when i get back. Trying to make sure it is going to be alright, after internal harness change.
