MH 3000 update
Hey Tom,
I realize you’re a Fluid “expert” but I have to ask, I just purchased a 05 Monaco with a ISL 4000 with the MH3000 transmission, my question is, would you happen to know (or know who to ask) if there is an electronic update for the transmission I should consider?
Thank you sir for your help!

Unless you are having some issues, I would not worry about updating the software. It will cost a few hundred to do it, I paid $270+ in 2011 to update mine and noticed no difference in the transmission performance. I stopped at the Allison Distributor last week to have my new PacBrake activated and was told there was no code in my program to activate that function in my transmission so the Tech put in a request for a new program from a different unit that has that function that can be used in my transmission. When they find a compatible program, I will have to make a 300+ mile round trip to get it installed.

Sorry, but that's way outside my area of expertise. My only recommendation is to go to the Allison Transmission sales and service locator, https://allisontransmission.com/sales-service-locator, and call your nearest service center. Give them your transmission serial number (on the tag on the side of the transmission) and they should be able to tell you if you'll have any options for upgrading/updating the TCM (Transmission Control Module).
Hope this helps !!

Allison 1000
Hi Tom
Would you have any idea how much fluid is needed when it is a the low mark on the dipstick?

Hello Tom, I have a 2014 MH3000 42' MH with Tag with 28,000 miles. Fluid and filters have never been changed. Prognostics read ok. Sits in storage alot, dry climate. Should I change the filters and transynd? Just have it analyzed? Thanks for your help.

Not Tom, but with 7+ year old fluid, were it mine, I would change it and the filters and go with the new TES 668.
Could you extend the change interval by having the fluid analyzed-- quite possibly.
If you are going to sell within the next year vs keep for much longer-- may affect your decision.

That fluid is good for many more years, probably longer than you will ever own the coach. Changing is a waste of money. Your money, your coach, your choice. A lab test is a lot cheaper than a gallon of TransSyn.

And filters can be changed without losing more than a gallon of fluid, so there's no reason not to change those.

TES 668 vs TES 295
Tom,
Thanks for all the time you put in on various forums!!!
Question.
My local Allison shop stopped stocking Transynd TES 295 spec, in favor of the newer TES 668 spec fluid.
They said it 'should be fine' for anything spec'd for 295.
In my case I'm using the 295 in a late 90's era Monaco w/ the Allison 4060, and also using this in my PS, hydro motor fan and Leveling jacks, all which call for Dex.
I've been sourcing TES 295 spec fluids from other sources, and so far not bought into the TES 668.
What are your thoughts on TES 668?

"Synthetic 668 will have the same extended drain recommendation as TES 295 fluids. The new oil is specified for on-highway vehicles, including vocational applications, and is fully backwards compatible for every Allison transmission that requires an Allison-approved TES 295 fluid."

Sort of off subject, but does anyone here have a good source for Allison 4000 Series filters?

I always found our local Allison dealer to have competitive prices on OE Allison filter kits. Also, much more likely they are NOT "old stock".
TES 668 supersedes TES 295. After more than a decade of the original Transynd, it is reasonable that strides have been made in chemical engineering. This IS what you want.

In an Allison 3000, how often does one change filters and/or fluids?
If one overfills, what’s the risk, besides leaks?
If one underfills, what the risks? Is it similar to a car tranny where it just doesn’t shift well?

My TES 295 is over 100,000 miles on my 13 yo coach. Tested regularly, filters changed as requested.
With my test results, I have no fear with continuing as is.
