Don't know what you have for fluid. Go back and check my post #684 & Toms response post 685 in this thread. My lead count was exactly the same and I believe mine to be original TranSynd fluid. I suspect you are looking at the same thing so his response would be the same.

I'm certainly no expert but on the Transynd reports I have seen, the viscosity was above 7 and the oxidation number was above 50. I don't know if that is indicative of Transynd or not.

Steve you might be right. I have a copy of mine in my bag and viscosity is 7.1. The lead number is the same though.

Ed,
Although wear metals are OK and an immediate change is not necessary, the fluid analysis indicates that this is an older technology DEXRON-III type fluid and not an Allison TES-295 type fluid. The oxidation of 33 indicates it's not synthetic. Although the viscosity, of 6.3 cSt (centi-Stokes) at 100C, is still good enough to support loads, it will probably continue to thin over time. I think you would probably be money ahead to go ahead and change it out to a TES-295 product and then monitor it through annual fluid analysis. The TES-295 fluid (TranSynd or another one) will continue to be very stable for a long period of time but you should check it annually to make sure you don't have any contamination issues.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thank you for all of the replies. I'll swap it out for Transynd and some new filters for peace of mind. Thats a downside to buying from a dealer, no real maintenance background

Is there a big difference between synthetic Delvac and Transynd? Locally I cant find Transynd under $42 a gallon but Delvac I found for $33. If they are comparable then I might as well save the $$

I get mine from the Ford dealer.

No. You can use either of them interchangeably. I signed off on both of them. Make sure it's Exxon Mobil Synthetic with the TES-295 approval.

TES-295 is the correct number. By the way, just so everyone knows,TES means Transmission Engineering Specification.

Excellent. Yes I made sure it was the one that says Allison on the front and have since checked the Allison website and this shop is actually one of their listed shops in my area.

I am in the throws of purchasing a 1999 Safari Panther 425. From the literature on board, it has a MH 4000 series transmission. The 1999 manual lists a single Allison filter #29526898. Is this the most current iteration of filter and does it only have a single filter (compared to the 2 filter 3000 series). Also, what would the capacity be to replace fluid with Transyd, and do you recommend the removing the return line at the cooler method to do the closest change to 100% Transyd?
