Help! trans light and no shift.

My new (to me ) 2005 Bounder (20K) starts and stays in 3rd gear and the check trans light is on. After I drive for a few miles and turn off for a few minutes the light is off and shifting goes back to normal when restarted. Happened first after sitting for 3 weeks and now have problem after sitting overnght. Fluid level is OK. Anybody experience anything similar? Thanks.

I would have it looked at by an Allison shop. Bad TCM or maybe they will just re-flash the TCM.
