How do I find out what Series Allison Transmission is on my MH?

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Bounder on a WH Chasis.

Is there a data plate somewhere I should look for?

Also, I keep seeing different intervals of when the fluid should be changed.

Does anyone have a link to show what I need?

Thanks

Look on the passenger side just behind the PTO cover. There should be square ID plate with the serial number on it. Once you have the serial number got to the Allison web site and click on the My Transmission link My Transmission

Added The 2006 Bounder Brochure below. Unfortunately it doesn't list the model number.

You didn't say which chassis, so it isn't easy to know, but I'm guessing it is a w-22 and that means it is a 1000 MH. If a w-24, then it is either a 2100 MH or a 2350MH depending on if you have a yellow knob or foot applied parking brake. Since WCC installed TranSynd as oe, all you may need is an oil analysis to confirm it is still good to continue using.

If you still cannot determine which tranny by the methods posted above, I can find out using the last 8 digits of the vin #.

Thanks Ed.

I just found that I have a 1000 series Trans.

I am going to try to find someone to change the fluid as it says 100,000 miles or 48 months. It beyond 48 months and I see no record of previous owners changing it.

Yours has an external oil filter, so basically drain the fluid, add new and replace the filter. Your biggest expense will be the oil at about $45 a gallon. Shouldn't be that difficult.

The model and serial number of my 6 speed M3060 Allison is on an aluminum nameplate located on the side of the transmission.
(on the 5000, 6000, 8000, and 9000 Series transmissions, it's on the lower rear face of the rear housing).

Mine looks like this: http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...onTrans001.jpg

That makes using oil analysis to determine IF it even needs changing a better alternative .

Removing the plug should yeild about 10.5 quarts, so you will need to buy at least 5 gallons to do the double drain DIY change. That is why I keep suggesting you have the existing fluid tested to see IF it needs replacing.

Thanks ed Now trying to sound like a smart Alec, but being told at min change at 48 months, I understand about the analysis but I am way over due for a change per the time. A test is going to run me about 80 bucks, which is a pretty good chinch toward a full change. Understand ny concern? Thoughts?

Not doubting your advice but I am gambling at a 1/3 of the cost
