MD 3060 cooler replacement

My Allison MD 3060 transmission cooler is leaking and is getting to rusty to repair. I was going to buy a hi-flow cooler and mount it with a fan where the spare tire was.( I carry the spare in my race car trailer). I was looking at this: # DB-2305 High flow cooler - 1" fitting, 24.0 x 31.4 x 1.5 Overall size
Flow range 12 - 30 GPM
Heat rejection range 61,000 - 85,000 BTU/Hr at 2500 FPM air flow

Has anyone replaced theirs before??
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Have you been onto the Allison web site and entered your trans number in" My Allison " to see what cooler flow is required ?
They also have an ask Allison section.
Allison Transmission Home

My 3060 has only an oil to water cooler mounted in the lower rad hose , it's aluminum and heat sinks to the frame rail. Never had a heat issue, but I'm well below the trans rated weight & HP.

Hey Skip, thanks for the info. Really lots of good info there.
After pricing out a aftermarket cooler and the new lines I would need the cost would of have been $400.00+. I decided,"what the heck, give Spartan a call and see what they have". Much to my surprise it was only $390.00 delivered for a direct replacement unit. Todd at Spartan was very helpful....he had to call me back after he looked up the part number on microfiche!!

Great to hear that your getting fixed up at a reasonable price.

But you know your rig is approaching " vintage " classification when the parts list is only on microfiche.

Flip side is; at least there are parts available , even if they require a great deal of dusting off.

Us older folks are familiar with the mighty microfiche, but you might have to explain what they are to the younger generation.

We get funny looks from the young guys at work when we use the one we still have. Hope the bulb never blows.
