MD 3060 no shift into drive - 99 diplomat

OK - I have a new to me 1999 monaco Diplomat with an 5.9L isb and allison MD3060 I believe (roadmaster chassis). I have intermediate shift into drive problems. I have to press the D button many times before it will go into drive. Once in D all the shifts are fine and most of the time it will shift to reverse without problem. It does seem like I have to hold each button down a long time (maybe 3~5 second before a shift but reverse and neutral work. Is there a chance the push button module is going bad in the lefthand console? maybe a bad D button? How long is normal to press the buttons to shift and does your foot have to be on the brake pedal to shift into drive.

WHere can I find a wiring schematic for this trans? and has anyone had to replace their shifter pannel?

MD3060

Hi, I had sim. problem with my 6 speed allison key pad.Mine had problems when the temp fell below 45 deg.Allison had no idea what could be wrong.
So i took the M.H. To a truck shop, they determined it was the touch pad.Had it replaced $2000 + labor = $2500. If i had to do it over again I would take off
myself and either send it to or take it allison and have them check it out. I think the truck made too much of it. Also u can find a used one at a rv salavg
Don't know if this helps.I would like to hear how it works out for u

Thanks Dave for you info, that is what I am trying to find out is how many people have had trouble. it could be the key pad or computer or I was wondering if anyone had had to do a software update even. Yep I think I will try to find one salvage first that is pretty pricey. Again thanks for your info it gives me one count toward the shift pad causing the trouble. I will post once I solve.

Make sure that the idle is not too high, or it won't go into gear.

If you need parts, take a look at this forum thread.

Mine got some water down on the key pad from an open window, would not shift and other problems. I took it apart and dryed it out, reassembled and it worked fine! It was scary to take it apart but after it was done it really was no big deal. could just be the key pad has some dirt or something, take it apart clean it and see what happens.
