New Allison will tell you when to change oil/filter

I was just on the Allison transmission website browsing around, and I found this info which says the new 5 generation electronic controls can tell the driver when an oil change is needed, and also when a filter change is needed.

Seems to take all the guess work out of it ! Now no more wondering.....
No more changing the filters ".....just because I don't know when/if they were changed..."

Anybody know approx what year these "smarter" transmissions made their way into production coaches? Is this such a new feature no coach builder is using them yet?
I have never heard of this Allison feature before today.

This has been the standard for a while now. Probably the only way to find out would be to ask them when that went into production.

Let us know what you find out.

This feature is called Prognostics. It is an option that is also available on Gen4 controls.

You can use the shifter to see if you have it programmed into your TCM.

Press the two arrows together on a push button shifter, or the Allison symbol on a T-bar shifter.
The display will read oL,--,xx. (Oil level check)
Press the buttons again.
If the display now reads oM--, you have Prognostics.
If the display now reads d1,--, you don't have Prognostics.

I believe it was around late 2008 early 2009 when they first introduced the Prognostics feature on their transmissions.
