No forward gears
While traveling near Yuma on Thursday I got a couple of little bumps in the road. Nothing major, but the vibration affect auto transmission. Drive quit working. I'll forward years do not work. I do have reverse only. I was happy to have AAA and I day and have been told to Rush truck Service Center and Yuma. We will have a chance to look at the next week. I pulled the codes on the console and came up with 6600 being the issue. Communication issue or grounding. I checked all the connectors and they all look excellent. Before I was told I had a tech come out with his laptop but didn't have a connector to fit the one pictured here. He seems a little puzzled. Is this a common connector for the trans?

That is very uncommon to see that connector, even on a 2004, I believe. Should be a round nine pin connector. I assume you have a six speed Allison?

That is the kind I have on my old coach. I think it is called an ADL connector. At the large truck repair place I was at, one of the techs had an old Snap-on reader that had the correct connector to plug in and power the connector - they could read only. Later, I took the coach to an Allison place and they could read it with their software.

Yes. It's normally called an ALDL connector. It was usually used on vehicles that didn't have a J1939 controller area network in the vehicle. The Allison tools that are available allow connection to it. Nothing wrong with it, just the previous generation of diagnostic connector.

I have an update and need some help. The transmission is full of fine metal in the oil. I'm having Rush Truck install a rebuild from Weller. The problem is the transmission cooler needs to be replaced too. Monaco would have to order and would take a month to get it. $1,200.00. I contacted a local radiator shop in Yuma. He looked at it and said he can cut open the old one and replace the inside with new. weld it back up and give me a receipt for new to cover me on any future warranty issues with Weller. $550.00 Here is part numbers.

Thanks for the reply. I've decided to have the local radiator shop rebuild it. I'm told it'll be just as good as a new one with the new internal cooling oil line. It will be fully pressure tested and guaranteed.
