No temp reading

I have a 2002 Beaver patriot thunder with a 4000 Allison transmission. I am not getting any readouts on temperature from the VMS or the dial gauge in the dash. Not sure if it’s a sensor or maybe some faulty wiring. Does anyone have an idea of what may be the problem?

Not sure on your 2002 Beaver but my 2002 Monaco uses a separate sending unit for the dash gauge temp reading on the transmission. The ECM gets its temp reading via the VIM.

My dash gauge sending unit is mounted in an aluminum block on the output side of the transmission fluid line going to the cooler. It has a chessy clip on type connector that could be pulled off pretty darn each by road debris.

FWIW, I use a Silverleaf VMSpc for my engine and transmission data display, much more accurate then the dash gauges and fast. I keep track of all the important parameters and even have alarms setup on some like the oil pressure, temp, voltage etc.
