Thanks again.
It's probably not only not required but not even possible. On the 3000 and 4000 MH series the only way to totally change the fluid is the two drain and refill process. Allsion doesn't let you use the fluid change pumps either.

Good to know. I also learned in the pdf I mentioned that for 3000/4000 transmissions 6-10 quarts remain after draining. For example, a 3000 with a 4 inch sump takes 29 quarts on intial fill but only 19 on refill. So I guess a lot of that is in the tc. I will be changing shortly so I will have 19 quarts of Transynd and 10 quarts of Dexron III. So I will run it a few miles and change it again. My problem is I don't know for sure whats in there Dexron III or Transynd. I emailed two labs and neither one can tell from tests what I have. Bummer. So I will assume Dexron III. Will keep reading everything I can get my hands on.

You could always use a flat bed scanner and scan to PDF.. Some of the SCAN to PDF programs will let you do an entire book.

Solved my download problem by switching Browsers. And yes I have a flatbed scanner that does that. Also I can print to pdf.

Thanks Mike but I am having problems with that method.

Call up this link in IE

http://www.allisontransmission.com/s...t=OM2995EN.pdf

After you have it try to save to HD. I can save the link in favorites but I cannot get it to my HD (document only) unless I switch browsers. No problem saving the link IE. These links sometime go away so it is important to have the document.

I don't know this first hand, but believe I have heard others talk about the color of Transynd starting out as gold-ish and changing a bit, but that it did differ from the red color of Dextron.

Some may comment on this here; if not you could try a forum search for transmission fluid. It has been discussed quite a bit on IRV2.

Have done a lot of searching but if the Labs can't tell the difference, there probably is not much difference visually for older fluid. Mine is red and probably Dexron III. The reason I wanted to know is so I wouldn't have to do the double fill if it was transynd.

Search for this man for information from the horses mouth. He has quite a long thread but I don't know how to link it. I will try after I at least quote him.

Hi Folks,

My name is Tom Johnson and I was the former Transmission Fluids Engineer at Allison Transmission from 1990 until my retirement in 2009. I am a member of the Good Sam Club Class A motorhome forum and one of the members asked me to join the IRV2 forums.

I'm here to help with your questions about Allison Transmission fluid specifications, TranSynd, oil and coolant analysis, etc.

Let me know how I can help.

PS: You can call me "Mr. TranSynd" if you like..
