Please help identify the drain port

4 years ago i changed the trans fluid, today i wanted to do it again. well, i don't remember which one is the drain port, especially don't recall the square one... it is an allison md3066.

from below pics you can see, there is a square one (3/8"); towards center there is a plug/bolt marked as "Main". could someone confirm if the square one is the drain port? thanks in advance.

Yep, that's it. I just looked at the Allison web site to verify it.

this is done. though the manual says 19 quarts of fluid, but i could only get 4g fluid out, the very same 4 years ago.

the filters was darker than what was expected, but no sign of torn. the residue at the tip of the drain plug was thin, minimum wear i guess.

overall, this is a no-drama-job. here are filters:

I'm new to the big-rig scene, but a DIY kinda person. Have changed oils/fluids in a Prius up to a Ram 3500 dually but not one of these beasts. A quick question for my DIY mind. When you're talking gallons of fluids and given these rigs set so low, how do you generally get 'em up to slide under, and what type of ginormous container do you catch the fluids in? This is for down-the-road as I've only about 2,000 engine/trans miles and 50 gen hrs so far but, enquiring minds have to know.

when coach on travel height, i can lie on my back under it working on oil/fluid/lube. not sure about your coach.

i simply went get a low profile plastic container in wally mart. it holds 25 quarts for $7.98 (another member paid $6 for a tote). when i am to change oil, i save 6 milk jugs and use them to collect the oil from fumoto valve. recommend you get one of it.

Mine takes 14 gallons of oil and so far I haven't tried to change it. There's a Speedco 30 miles from me and that's just about enough time to warm the engine up thoroughly for a change.
