Shop overfilled Allison MH 2500 - now I've got a trans oil filter restirction warning
It seems that every time I pay for work I could do myself, I end up regretting it. My 2016 Holiday Rambler Navigator 35 just crossed 50,000 miles a few weeks ago. So, I took it to a local Boss shop to have the oil changed and the transmission fluid changed.
All seemed to be well until we got on the road and drove about 200 miles. We stopped for diesel and during a walkaround I noticed oil dripping out of the transmission. I pulled the dipstick and found it was wildly overfilled. I was neer a Speedco so I asked them to drain some fluid for me. The mechanic there was astounded at how badly overfilled the transmission was. We pulled over a gallon of fluid out before the reading was between the hot marks with the engine running.
With the transmission cleaned up we continued on down the road and I've been checking it regularly. We've put about 1,000 miles on it since then and today while driving I got a warning on the Freightliner display on the dash for the transmission oil filter.
I have Bluefire on the engine so I pulled up the faults there and found SPN 3,359 / FMI 31 tripped. It's a warning with a description of "Transmission Oil Filter Restriction Switch. Condition Exists."
I'm planning on taking the motorhome to an allision dealer in Shawnee Kansas tomorrow but would love any insight on why the overfill might have caused this.
With ambient temperatures around 60 degrees the transmission was showing 170-180 degrees and never elevated above 180 degrees.
I'd welcome any thoughts or suggestions.
