speedo drive

Hi all, perhaps someone can help me. My speedo failed a while ago and I am led to believe it could be the electronic drive unit on the allison MT500 4speed box. However i have no idea where it is or what it looks like. and if its possible to remove it to repair/replace.the rv is a damon challenger 348 1996 5.9 cummins. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Mick
