Tranny Issue - Maybe Torque Converter

Wasn't sure where to post so I started in the Workhorse forum. Latest info leading me towards a tranny problem. Please take a look at my thread here.

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f22/trann...ly-443537.html

Look at post #7 where I describe a little more detail of the issue as a result of a torque converter lockup question. Any input you can provide will be much appreciated.

Admin, if this is not allowed, please let me know how I should handle this situation. I'm not sure if I have a Workhorse or Allison issue at this point.

Is the lockup in the torque converter controlled electronically or is it mechanical? My Workhorse chassis is an '04 with an '05 body build.

Lockup is controlled by a solenoid that sends fluid to the clutch. If the clutch was slipping, the trans would fail the ratio test and set a diagnostic code. Once lockup engages, it stays on. It doesn't go on and off in every gear.
Sounds suspiciously like something other than the trans. Maybe engine power coming and going.

Thanks for the reply dbarton291. The Allison shop I talked to while on the road said it sounded like a low power issue to them. I don't know. I hate intermittent issues!

Headed to the tranny shop tomorrow to get it checked for codes. Hopefully, it will be acting up and they can determine if it's a tranny issue and an engine issue. I will report back tomorrow.
