Trans fluid change w22
I see where the Trynsyn fluid is being recommended for my 2005 w22. The question I have is,they say to fill with Trynsyn and drive 20 miles then drain out to get the rest of the old fluid out . Maybe a couple of quarters left in that didn't come out the first time. That seems like an expensive fluid change for just a few miles. Will it hurt to just leave those 2 quarters in until next fluid change .

Actually, if switching from Dexron to Transynd (668 is the current, completely backwards compatible Allison fluid) their recommendation is to just stick with the recommended service interval for Dexron.
Then, after the next change with Transynd, go to the recommended service interval for Transynd.
I would certainly not discard almost new fluid unless the old fluid was contaminated or burned.

When I changed our Dolphin over to Transynd we made a 6,000 + mile trip out west. I did the second change when we got back home. As Brett stated above you don't have to make the second change right away you just have to abide by the standard fluid change interval rather than the extended interval offered by the Synthetic fluid.

I purchased this RV a few months ago,it a 2005 fleetwood. It only has 24k on it,but I have done a lot of maintenance work on it. The unit was sitting in RVpark. Can you please tell me what the regular intervals should be on trans fluid. I sure it has never been changed. Thanks

I changed out the fluid and filter with Transynd 668 in my 2005 Damon Challenger Workhorse chassis last June with three gallons of fluid. I am not planning on doing another drain and fill just to get any residual fluid out of it after driving it. You are not guaranteed to get what very little of the old fluid remaining out during a second drain anyway.

Despite low mileage, at 18+ years old, IMO change it!

Well that's what I thought. I'm going to change it this weekend. It has a Fram filter on it. All I have found local is a Wix. Anyone run Wix filter.

Wix (which also makes NAPA Gold filters) is quite a step up from Fram.
But, how much more is an OE Allison filter?
Have always found Allison dealer prices competitive on filters and fluid (now Transynd 668).

Amazon has the Allison filter.
Don't forget to transfer the magnet on the top of the old filter to the new filter.

When I replaced my fluid with three gallons of Transynd 668, I also installed a new Allison spin on filter part 29539579. Just remember to clean off the donut magnet and reinstall it between the filter and filter mount.

Allison recommends fluid change @ 50,000 miles or two years with Dextron fluid and 150,000 miles or four years with Transynd fluid . They call for the spin on fluid filter tube replaced every 50,000miles or two years . What ever fluid you use make sure it it Allison approved . I went with the Mobil brand but there are other approved brands out there .
