OK, we took the motorhome out of hibernation this weekend so we could bring it to the dealer and have some punch list items taken care of.

When I first started it on Friday the "check transmission" light stayed on. I let the engine warm up before moving. I just needed to move it around the driveway to load some of the storage compartments. So I turned the engine off for a a hour or so then started it back up to get gas. Everything worked well and the light was off.

Next day, Saturday, same thing. Started the engine, light on.. let warm up, turned engine off and then back on and the light is off.

Checked all levels and everything looks fine. Drove to the dealer over 50 + miles away and no problems. Shifted great.

Could it be because the battery (computer) was disconnected since late November ?

Any ideas ? Thanks..

What Allison transmission model is this. Do you know how to read trouble codes? How did you read the fluid level...by the dipstick or by pushing both the Up and Down arrows at the same time?

It is a 1000, I measured the level by the dipstick when the transmission temperature was over 100 degrees. I do not have buttons, it is column shift.

Where would I read the trouble codes?

Sorry but on that model 1000 transmission the trouble codes have to be download by an Allison repair shop. It is worth doing to make sure there is not a major problem that could get worse as time goes on.
