I have a 2007 Dutchstar with a 400HP cummings engine with a Allison transmission. I recently reached the 50,000 mile mark.I need a transmission expert to tell me if the transmission is due for a service visit. And if so what type of service. A fluid and filter or just a filter. I have been told, by auto transmissions techs, in cars when you replace the fluid with new you are shortening the life of the transmission. Something about the detergent in the new clean fluid has a tendency to wear out parts. (meaning the old fluid that was removed the detergent had been depleated over time and putting in new shortens the life of the transmission.) Please, can someone with knowledge on the Allison transmission shoot me the straight scoop. Thanks John.

Our 2011 coach with Allison 3000 is 5 years when using Transynd fluid. Fluid and filter. I have Prognistics, which extends the time.

Not sure about that mumbojumbo - just take a sample and have an analysis done

You will at least need to replace filters. Thats standard for alison service.

Plus they have mostly soft parts (clutches and some aluminum ) but only a few hard massive parts. When those show up in fluid, you got probs. And it wont matter if the fluid is new or not, but the sooner you find out about it the better. Those parts get more $$ as they wear and potentially cause a trans failure once that circulates thru the system.
